World Book Day

This year we really embraced the World Book Day theme, "Go All In". The day started with an assembly with Mrs Wall, our Reading Lead, who spoke about how reading can be so much fun when we use it to support our passions and interests. She also gave out some Reading Influencer certificates, to both adults and children who promote the love of reading across the school.
Then, Nursery and Reception headed to their classrooms to find it full of brand new wrapped up books, ready for them to open and go in their book corners! Reception 'went all in' by completing a reading challenge, some children had listened to 10 stories by 10 'o' clock!!
Key Stage One and Two spent the morning thinking about how their passions and interests could be shown through their book choices. Then they were briefed about the National Book Token competition they were entering! They discussed, sketched and planned how their token entry could reflect the joy of reading and their individual interests. Mrs Wall is posting these to World Book Day tomorrow, and we are sure we could have a winner amongst them! If we do have a winner, the design will be used on the National Book Tokens available at all book shops!
Finally, in the afternoon, Nursery and Reception headed to Thirsk Library, for an extra special story time.
Phew - we really did 'go all in' for World Book Day! Don't forget to head to the White Rose Bookshop in Thirsk, where your child can get a book for free, using the token sent home with them!

Musical Acheivements

How amazing are our Year 1 and 2 Roseberry class pupils. They have spent this term learning to play the ukelele with the very talented Mrs Jackson. We are very proud of them all!

Year 1 and 2 Fun Run

Our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils recently took part in a fantastic School Games fun run and showed great enthusiasm from start to finish. The children gave it their all as they ran around the course, cheering each other on and demonstrating wonderful teamwork and determination.
The event was a brilliant opportunity for pupils to be active, enjoy the outdoors and take part in a friendly sporting challenge. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces and such positive attitudes throughout the run.
We are incredibly proud of all the children who took part. They represented the school brilliantly and showed great sportsmanship. Well done to everyone involved!
